‘BETSY : THE WISDOM OF A BRIGHTON WHORE’ – Theatre production photoshoot with Isabella McCarthy Sommerville

Hola Amigos y Amigas,

Just a short blog to highlight the recent photoshoot I had with the talented Isabella McCarthy Somerville. An extraordinarily talented actor with whom I had a production shoot with at the end of May. It was a production of ‘Betsy : Wisdom of a Brighton Whore’. The performance was part of Brighton Fringe Arts Festival at a new theatre venue above the Fishermans Museum on Brighton seafront promenade.

The play is a monologue based in Victorian Brighton and my objective was to reproduce the atmosphere of the performance in a handful of images captured using the stage lighting. This method works well breaking down the play into poignant segments and freezing that action to bring the atmosphere to the still image. I then stayed on to see the show which was an epic portrayal of the play, finishing with a standing ovation from the audience and would recommend anyone to see this extraordinary talent. It was a most fulfilling assignment and staying for the performance enormously helped gain the results in the pics, in which we are both pleased.

This means that we have been invited to take the show to NEW YORK CITY this winter, for an off-broadway run at Soho Playhouse!!’
